Khabib forbade Makhachev to fight in January

Khabib Nurmagomedov forbade Islam Makhachev, the UFC welterweight champion, from defending the championship belt in January 2026. This was reported by manager Ali Abdel-Aziz.

"UFC contacted me and asked if Islam could headline the tournament in January. He promised to think about it, but then Khabib said: 'No! Absolutely not!'. Kamaru Usman and Ian Garry were considered as opponents," the manager reported.
