John Wood, coach of UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili, is confident that his protégé is capable of replicating the success of the legendary George St-Pierre.
“Merab is a dominant champion, but he still has room for progress. Every week, every camp he gets better and better. Honestly, I am surprised myself. I just can’t imagine where his limit is. I believe he can deliver a streak that will break many records. This is what we are currently working on. We are not even thinking about moving to another weight—focusing on the next opponents, on keeping the belt. I believe that Merab can become the Georges St-Pierre of his generation. He is capable of it.”
