Hill: "I am fortunate to live in a time when incredible medicine is available"

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamal Hill has spoken out about his health ahead of his bout with current titleholder Alex Pereira at UFC 300 on April 14 in Las Vegas.

For the 32-year-old American, the fight will be his first since rupturing his Achilles tendon last July.

"My injury? I was ready to fight a long time ago. But I listened to the doctors and my team to do the right thing. Mentally, I was ready to come back even the moment I got the injury.

I realize it could have been over for me. There are athletes who have to say goodbye to their dreams after such injuries. I was fortunate to live and perform at a time when incredible medicine is available. I've been able to take advantage of that, and because of that I've been able to come back in a time frame that people find incredible," MMA Junkie quoted Hill as saying.
