Cormier supported Pereira's decision

Daniel Cormier, former UFC heavyweight champion, reacted to Alex Pereira's decision to leave the light heavyweight championship belt vacant and move up to heavyweight.

“What is important to me is that Alex Pereira gave up the belt, and it looks like he will fight in the heavyweight division. If I were a champion and they told me, ‘Give up the belt,’ I would want an absolute guarantee that I would be fighting for another title. I don't think Pereira would just give up the title, but if he moves up to heavyweight and gets a chance to fight for the championship, then against whom exactly?

Is it Ciryl Gane? Is it Jon Jones? Anyway, it's not so important to me who it will be. I want to see how a fighter tries to win a third title. We have not had this yet. We haven't had a fighter who held belts in three weight categories. Pereira seems to be saying: ‘Now I have such a chance.’ At least, that's exactly what it looks like.”
