Wardley Cools Talk of Benavidez Heavyweight Move After Ramirez KO

WBO heavyweight titleholder Fabio Wardley weighed in on whether one of boxing’s brightest stars, David Benavidez, could eventually make the jump to the glamour division.

Wardley believes the American champion, who has already captured titles at light heavyweight and cruiserweight, should not rush into a move to heavyweight.

“Maybe that’s already too much for him. There’s a huge difference between divisions. There’s a gap between light heavyweight, where he came up from, and cruiserweight. And if you’re moving from cruiserweight to heavyweight, the gap is even bigger. Right now, it doesn’t even seem remotely possible,” Wardley said.

As a reminder, Benavidez knocked out Gilberto Ramirez last weekend to conquer a third weight class.
