Manny Pacquiao mentioned that negotiations for a rematch with Floyd Mayweather have been ongoing for a long time, but the American wanted an exhibition match. In the end, the sides managed to agree on a real fight.
“Previously, he wanted an exhibition match, but I did not agree. I wanted a real fight, like this one.
I am so excited about this fight. It just so happens that I am still active, and he came out of retirement and decided to do it again. I learned a lot from that 2015 fight. I think now we've become wiser and understand how to approach this fight. Hopefully, this time there will be no excuses. Especially concerning my physical condition. I am ready to fight,” Pacquiao said on ESPN's Sports Center.
The Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch is scheduled for September 19.
