Tyson explained why Mayweather is not the greatest boxer in history

Dmitriy Kel Feb. 20, 2026, 4:05 a.m.

“Floyd is a great fighter, no question about it,” Tyson began, acknowledging Mayweather’s accomplishments and his flawless 50-0 record. However, immediately after that, he went on to compare with other legends.

According to Tyson, if we talk about true greatness and incredible streaks, it's worth remembering Sugar Ray Robinson: “He had 40 fights, lost one, and then delivered 78 consecutive victories. Damn it!” Iron Mike emotionally emphasized.

Tyson also described the achievement of Julio Cesar Chavez as no less impressive: “He was 87-0 before his first loss, and had about 90 victories in total. Don’t tell me about the ‘greatest’ with a 50-0 record.”

Recall that it was previously confirmed that Tyson and Mayweather will hold an exhibition match on April 25 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
