In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, Wilder explained why he decided to take this step right now:
"After Malik, I needed a new development direction. Don House is a person who has more than 28 world champions in UFC and professional boxing under his belt. This speaks for itself."
According to Wilder, House initially joined his team as an assistant and worked "from the side," without claiming a dominant role. However, over time, a true connection developed between the fighter and the coach, which became the decisive factor.
"Don and I met even when my coach was Malik. The transition happened naturally. I always knew he was an outstanding specialist, but it's one thing to be a good coach in general, and quite another to suit your specific style and character. As soon as we built a real relationship, I realized: he is ready to take full responsibility and grab this chance with both hands," Wilder stated.
