Former three-division world champion Duke Mackenzie gave a rather harsh and unequivocal prediction for the fight for the WBO heavyweight title between current champion Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois.
According to Mackenzie, despite his affection for Dubois, he does not see any chances for "Dynamite" in this confrontation.
"I like Daniel Dubois, but that doesn't mean I can't express an impartial professional opinion. In my opinion, he will not beat Wardley. Respect must be shown to Fabio. This will not be a warm-up or recovery fight for Dubois. This is a full-fledged championship match. Daniel's team should respect Wardley — he has rightfully become the world champion," Mackenzie stated in an interview.
"The belt gives you this advancement," Duke noted, recalling that Wardley, in a tough, back-and-forth fight, confidently dealt with Joseph Parker, inflicting serious damage on the New Zealander and securing the victory.
"This is what Wardley does — he finishes his work," Mackenzie concluded.
The Wardley — Dubois fight is officially scheduled for May 9th in Manchester.
