Brandon Figueroa (27-2-1, 20 KOs) defeated Nick Ball (23-1-1, 13 KOs) by technical knockout in the twelfth round, stripping him of the WBA featherweight world championship title. Their fight was the main event of the evening in Liverpool.
The American was leading on points until the fight was stopped. At the start of the final round, Figueroa delivered a left hook, sending the Briton to the canvas. Some time later, Ball found himself on the mat again, and the referee decided to stop the fight.
This was the Englishman's first professional defeat. Figueroa became a world champion for the third time in his career and plans to have his next fight in September at a tournament in Riyadh.
