The British promoter Eddie Hearn believes that if Jake Paul gets lucky in his fight against Anthony Joshua, he won't lose by too severe a knockout. Paul will face the former unified world heavyweight champion Joshua on Friday evening in Miami.
Paul was initially supposed to meet Gervonta Davis in November, but the fight was canceled, resulting in it being moved to December with Joshua as the new opponent.
“Jake Paul is a decent fighter, but he is not a world-class heavyweight," Hearn said. "And I very much hope he gets lucky. When I say 'gets lucky,' I mean that his knockout will not be too severe. If he takes a clean hit, nothing good will come out of it for him.”
Last November, the 28-year-old Paul fought the 58-year-old Mike Tyson, winning by unanimous decision after six rounds. In May, Paul fought Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., winning by unanimous decision in ten rounds.
“I think he sincerely believes he can win this fight,” added Hearn. “Obviously, he will earn a lot of money. Good luck to him, it deserves respect. He did not have to fight Anthony Joshua. He is crazy, unfortunately. Paul will learn a lot about this game next Friday.”
