Canelo Reveals Surprising Take on Crawford vs Bivol: "One of them is on another level"

Ronald Crawley Aug. 3, 2025, 6:11 p.m.

When asked about Crawford, Canelo stayed quiet until the interviewer mentioned a name he thought might be better. Bivol's name came up, but Canelo didn't say a word. This silence speaks volumes, especially considering Canelo lost to Bivol in 2022 when they fought for the WBA world light-heavyweight title.

After that loss, Canelo moved back down to 168lbs, where he's now the undisputed champion. At 34, the boxer from Guadalajara has only lost twice in his career.

Crawford, nicknamed "Bud," is 37 and hails from Omaha. He's achieved a lot in boxing, becoming the undisputed welterweight champion and recently adding the WBA super welterweight title to his collection.

"Bud" beat Errol Spence Jr to become the undisputed welterweight champ. About a year ago, he won the WBA crown at 154lbs by defeating Israil Madrimov in Los Angeles, California.

Now, Crawford is set to make his first appearance at 168lbs in an upcoming fight with Canelo. The bout is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. If Crawford wins, he'll become the first three-division undisputed champion of the modern era.

Since his fight with Canelo, Bivol has become the undisputed champion in his division. But according to Canelo's recent comments, Crawford might just be the better fighter.
