Ennis became the unified welterweight champion with an impressive sixth-round stoppage win over Eimantas Stanionis. The victory solidified his status as one of boxing's brightest stars. Now, he's ready for a new challenge.

The Philadelphia native has already vacated one of his welterweight titles and will likely give up the second soon. He's set his sights on the 154-pound division, where potential matchups with Vergil Ortiz Jr and Sebastian Fundora await.

Meanwhile, former unified champion Keith Thurman has thrown down the gauntlet to Ennis. Thurman, who lost only once to Manny Pacquiao, returned to the ring in March after a three-year hiatus. He made his debut at 154 pounds, stopping Brock Jarvis inside three rounds.

In an interview with Mill City Boxing, Thurman called out Ennis:

"Everybody still see you getting clocked. You ain't been clocked by the right ones, man. I'm back. Run it. Stop playing. Put it together, you'll get the best fights. Thurman fights … I'm just trying to get back up where I belong, back up to the top."

A bout between Ennis and Vergil Ortiz Jr has been strongly linked. Ortiz's team wants two tune-up fights in the division before making it happen. Promoter Eddie Hearn claims the fight will take place in 2026.

As Ennis prepares to make his mark in a new weight class, boxing fans can look forward to fresh challenges and exciting matchups in the super welterweight division.
