Mike Tyson Names Unexpected Fighter As Greatest Heavyweight: "Ali Couldn't Touch Him"

The former world heavyweight champion made the bold statement on The Big Podcast with Shaquille O'Neal. When asked about the greatest athletes, Tyson first weighed in on basketball.

"I'm from Jordan," Tyson said, referring to Michael Jordan, who's often considered the best basketball player ever.

The conversation then turned to boxing, and O'Neal asked who the greatest heavyweight of all time was.

"Me," Tyson replied without hesitation.

His answer got an immediate ovation from those present. Tyson quickly added, "I'm not being egotistical... ask the world, not just one person. Ask ten. Ask the world."

Tyson's claim goes against the common view that Muhammad Ali holds the title of greatest heavyweight. Ali is usually praised not only for his boxing skills but also for his social and cultural impact.

But Tyson insists his dominance in the ring can't be matched from a sporting and statistical point of view. He dominated the heavyweight division in the 1980s and 1990s, racking up 37 consecutive victories and amassing a fortune that topped $400 million at its peak.

Tyson's known for his ferocity in the ring, and it seems his confidence hasn't waned since retirement. He now considers his legacy above Ali's and any other heavyweight's.

The podcast also touched on Tyson's famously extravagant lifestyle. He talked about having tigers and lions as pets, which left Shaq speechless.

"I had to buy the house next door for some of my pets. It was chaos," Tyson said.

This eccentric behavior has long been part of Tyson's reputation, making him one of the most colorful figures in boxing and sports history.
