Oleksandr Usyk stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium, London. The Ukrainian fighter became the first to win the undisputed heavyweight championship twice in the four-belt era.
Former world champion Ricky Hatton shared his thoughts on the match. He told iFL TV that Dubois put up a good fight:
"I don't think Daniel could have done any much more than what he was doing, I think he was doing alright, I think he was pretty nip and tuck and that but you just got to give credit to Usyk, you know fighters like Usyk come along once in a lifetime to be honest with you, do you know what I mean? He was a little bit nip and tuck, he made him fall short and then he clocked him and he just never ceases to amaze me Usyk."
The fight ended dramatically just over a minute into the fifth round. Usyk floored Dubois with a short right hand. When the British boxer got back to his feet, Usyk closed the show with a powerful left hook.
This match took place nearly two years after their first encounter in Poland. In that fight, Usyk also stopped Dubois, but in the ninth round.
At 38 years old, the Ukrainian fighter has cemented his place as the greatest heavyweight of his generation. There's talk about his possible retirement, but nothing's confirmed yet. If he decides to continue, he might face former rival Tyson Fury, whom he's beaten twice before.
Daniel "DDD" Dubois, 27, put up a good fight according to Hatton's assessment. However, Usyk's skill and experience proved too much for the young British boxer.
