Wladimir Klitschko has picked Muhammad Ali as the greatest boxer of all time. The former heavyweight champion didn't think twice when asked about the best fighter in history during a recent chat with DAZN Boxing.
Klitschko knows a thing or two about boxing greatness. He won Olympic gold in 1996 and turned pro the same year. For seven years, from 2008 to 2015, he ruled as the unified heavyweight champion. He successfully defended his titles 14 times, beating tough opponents like Alexander Povetkin, David Haye, and Kubrat Pulev.
But even Klitschko's impressive career doesn't compare to Ali's in his eyes. When asked about the greatest fighter ever, Klitschko simply said:
"Muhammad Ali. There's no question."
Ali's career spanned from 1960 to 1981, dominating boxing in the '60s and '70s. He won the world heavyweight title three times and beat some of the best fighters of his era, including Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, and George Foreman.
One of Ali's most famous fights happened over 50 years ago. The "Rumble in the Jungle" in Zaire saw Ali knock out Foreman in a shocking upset. It's still talked about as one of boxing's greatest moments.
Klitschko's own career ended after a close fight with Anthony Joshua in 2017. Before that, he lost his titles to Tyson Fury in 2015. Recently, there's been talk about Klitschko possibly making a comeback to the ring.
But for now, the Ukrainian boxing icon is happy to give credit where it's due. In his mind, Muhammad Ali stands alone as boxing's all-time great.
