Davis is still on probation from a hit-and-run incident that happened earlier. This arrest throws his boxing future into doubt. He was supposed to fight Lamont Roach Jr. again on August 16, but that might not happen now.
The two boxers first met in March 2025 for the WBA Lightweight World Title. That fight ended in a majority draw, but it wasn't without controversy. In the ninth round, Davis took a knee, but the referee didn't count it. If he had, Roach might have won the fight.
Roach, a former super-featherweight world champion, posted on X (formerly Twitter) about Davis' arrest. He wrote:
"what I tell y'all?"
He shared this with a video suggesting Davis was scared to fight him again. But Roach also showed some empathy, adding:
"In all seriousness hopefully buddy ain't do that, I don't wish jail on no n***a, I don't give a f**k if I don't like you or not."
As of now, there's no official word on what will happen with the planned rematch. It might get pushed back or even cancelled. We'll have to wait for more news about Davis' situation to know for sure.
