Roy Jones Jr wants to step back into the ring with Floyd Mayweather. The four-weight world champion is pushing for a big money comeback bout against the self-proclaimed 'best ever'.

Jones, widely regarded as one of the most talented fighters with an endlessly watchable style, made his debut in 1989 and has never truly retired. He became the first man to win a heavyweight world title after middleweight in over 100 years.

In 2020, Jones took part in an exhibition with Mike Tyson. He's since mentioned potential fights with Jake Paul and Tommy Fury. Now, he's set his sights on Mayweather.

The challenge comes after a series of events. Jones predicted Mayweather would lose to Sugar Ray Leonard in a fantasy fight. He also criticized Mayweather's claim of being the best fighter in history. Mayweather responded by posting four clips of Jones being knocked out on social media.

Jones saw this as a 'subliminal message' and fired back:

"If somebody was trying to send me a subliminal message, it works. If you want to prove that you're better than me, I'm always ready. Wide open. Ready to go. Call me."

A fight between these two legends would certainly draw interest, similar to Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson. However, it's worth noting that such a bout would be controversial and not necessary for the sport.

Jones believes he can still thrill fans, despite being past his prime. Whether Mayweather will accept the challenge remains to be seen. For now, the boxing world watches and waits to see if this potential comeback bout will materialize.
