Paul's posts came just hours after news broke about Chavez Jr.'s detention. TMZ Sports reported that ICE arrested the Mexican boxer on Wednesday due to a warrant linked to weapons trafficking and alleged cartel involvement.

Paul recently defeated Chavez Jr. in a boxing match, and his social media activity didn't go unnoticed by fans. Many interpreted the American flag tweet as a jab at Chavez Jr.'s situation.

Canelo is next.

USA Today provided more details about Chavez Jr.'s immigration issues. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services flagged him as an "egregious public safety threat." He became eligible for deportation on June 27 after allegedly lying on his residency application.

Paul's challenge to Canelo Alvarez added another layer of drama to the situation. Alvarez, Mexico's biggest boxing star, has his own controversy to deal with. The Latin Times reported that one of Alvarez's former business associates is under investigation for laundering money for a cartel.

As of now, Chavez's legal team hasn't responded publicly to the arrest. It's unclear if Paul was seriously teasing a future opponent in Canelo or just stirring up more controversy.

Love him or hate him, Jake Paul certainly knows how to keep the spotlight on himself. His quick reaction to Chavez Jr.'s arrest and cryptic challenge to Canelo Alvarez show his knack for staying in the public eye.
