Charlo got back to winning ways with a sixth round stoppage of Thomas LaManna in Las Vegas. The 35-year-old showed he's still got it as he campaigned for the first time at super middleweight.
After the win, Charlo laid out his plans for the future.
"I think the best move for my career, I'm 35, and time is wasting, whatever y'all wanna call it, I'm still having fun in the sport, I still got a lot more fights to go, I think that I should just keep fighting and hopefully I can get the Canelo fight, I mean wouldn't y'all wanna see that?"
Canelo Alvarez is the undisputed champion at 168lbs. The Mexican star regained his titles with a win over William Scull in January. He's now set for a huge fight with pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford on September 13 at a venue in the United States to be confirmed.
The 34-year-old from Guadalajara already beat Jermall's twin brother Jermell in September last year. That fight was a one-sided affair with Canelo winning by unanimous decision.
Charlo's call out comes at an interesting time in the super middleweight division. Caleb Plant, who was expected to face Charlo next, lost a split decision to Armando Reséndiz in a major upset.
With Plant out of the picture and Canelo busy with Crawford, Charlo might have to wait for his shot at the champion. But he's made it clear he's ready and willing to step up to the challenge when the opportunity comes.
