Ronald Crawley June 1, 2025, 4:10 p.m.

Bradley, known as "Desert Storm" during his fighting days, won world titles in the super-lightweight and welterweight divisions. He fought Manny Pacquiao three times, winning the WBO world welterweight title from him in 2012. Bradley lost to Pacquiao in their 2014 rematch and their final bout in 2016.

The International Boxing Hall of Fame inducted Bradley in its Class of 2023. This honor puts him in a strong position to comment on other greats of the sport.

When asked about the greatest fighter ever, Bradley didn't hesitate. He said:

"The greatest fighter that ever lived, Sugar Ray Robinson."

Sugar Ray Robinson's career spanned over 25 years, from 1940 to 1965. He grabbed the world champion title six times. Robinson held the welterweight championship from 1946 to 1951 and won the middleweight title five times over nearly a decade.

One of Robinson's most famous rivalries was with Jake LaMotta. The two fighters faced each other six times, with Robinson winning five of those bouts. Many consider these showdowns some of the most brutal in boxing history.

Bradley's full ranking of boxing's greatest fighters can be found in the ESPN Boxing feature. His choice of Robinson as the best ever adds to the ongoing debate about boxing's greatest of all time.
