Froch hung up his gloves in 2014 after a knockout win over George Groves at Wembley Stadium. The fight drew 80,000 fans and ended with one of the best right hands Froch ever threw. It was a rematch of their controversial 2013 bout where Froch rallied after being knocked down in the first round. Many felt the stoppage in that initial fight was premature.
Since retiring, Froch has worked as a pundit and earned a spot in the Hall of Fame. He's teased comebacks over the years but insists he's happy in retirement. However, in a recent interview with Sporting Talk, Froch made an exception for Jake Paul.
"I can't be arsed to get gloved up and go in the ring with anybody, but I'd happily step in and knock his teeth down the back of his throat just for the sake of boxing."
Froch didn't mince words about his potential opponent, calling Paul "a little bitch man" who's "not going to fight anybody." He claims Paul avoids mentioning his name because "he knows when I respond back it all goes against him and everyone says he's no chance against Froch, even 10 years retired."
Paul recently called out Anthony Joshua, prompting a warning from Froch. The YouTube star's next fight looks set to be against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., son of the boxing legend. Betting odds for this matchup are already available, though Chavez Jr. is past his prime.
While Froch seems content in retirement, his comments show he's still keeping an eye on the boxing world. Whether this potential matchup with Paul ever materializes remains to be seen, but Froch's willingness to return for "the sake of boxing" certainly adds intrigue to the conversation.
