Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois are set to face off in a heavyweight rematch on July 19 at Wembley Stadium. The fight is shaping up to be one of the biggest on the boxing calendar.
Mexican boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez believes Usyk will come out on top in this clash. In a recent interview with Seconds Out, Chavez shared his prediction for the fight.
Usyk's journey to this rematch has been impressive. He grabbed all four major heavyweight belts by beating Tyson Fury in May last year. He later vacated the IBF title to rematch Fury, a fight he won on points. Now, he's trying to become the first two-time undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era.
The Ukrainian fighter's first bout with Dubois in August 2023 ended in controversy. The referee judged Dubois' body shot as low, giving Usyk time to recover from a knockdown.
Dubois has made strides since then. He became the IBF heavyweight champion by knocking out Filip Hrgovic in June 2024. He then defended his title against Anthony Joshua with a fifth-round knockout in September last year.
The winner of this fight will have to keep an eye on Joseph Parker. Parker is the WBO mandatory challenger and has been on a good run lately. He's notched up wins over Martin Bakole, Zhilei Zhang, and Deontay Wilder in the last 18 months.
"Parker is the mandatory challenger for the WBO heavyweight title," Andy Lee, Parker's trainer, told Sky Sports. "If Usyk beats Dubois, it will be a unification fight."
