Tony Bellew, a former boxer turned commentator, recently shared his thoughts on a potential fight between Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois. The hypothetical matchup has caught attention in the boxing world, even though Fury retired in January.

Fury, a two-time world heavyweight champion, has an impressive resume. He defeated Wladimir Klitschko and knocked out Deontay Wilder twice. However, his career ended with two losses on points to Oleksandr Usyk, including a defeat in an undisputed title fight in May 2024.

Dubois, on the other hand, is still active in the ring. He lost to Usyk in the summer of 2023, getting stopped in nine rounds. The fight had its share of controversy when Dubois knocked Usyk down with what was ruled a low blow. Now, Dubois is gearing up for a rematch with Usyk in July, with the IBF belt and a shot at the undisputed title on the line.

If Dubois manages to beat Usyk, he's open to facing 'The Gypsy King'. Bellew thinks Fury's motivation will be the key factor in how a potential fight with Dubois might play out.

"Wow. I have to see Tyson Fury back in the ring, cause if Tyson Fury is back just for money, that will show up on fight night. If he's back just for money, then it will show," Bellew said in an interview with talkSPORT Boxing. "If he's back for legacy, then that's a different animal you're dealing with, that's a hungry fighter, and that's a dangerous fighter."

Bellew's analysis suggests that if Fury returns solely for a payday, it might not bode well for his performance. But if he's driven by a desire to cement his legacy, Fury could be a formidable opponent for Dubois.

While the boxing world buzzes about a potential Fury-Dubois matchup, many fans are holding out hope for a different fight. There's speculation that Fury might prefer a bout with Anthony Joshua. Joshua is currently recovering from an injury and won't be back in action until later this year. A Fury-Joshua fight is seen by many as the epic generational showdown that boxing fans have been waiting for.

As the heavyweight division continues to evolve, only time will tell which fights will actually materialize and how they'll shape the future of boxing.
