Walsh, who now has 11 wins with 5 knockouts and 2 losses, faced a tough opponent in Sowah, a Ghanaian fighter with a record of 7 wins, 1 draw, and all his victories coming by knockout.
After the fight, Walsh dedicated his victory to the late George Foreman, who passed away on March 21.
"I want to dedicate this fight to the great George Foreman, now deceased. A warrior and a hero to many, including myself. He fought on this African soil with my family 50 years ago. Rest in peace, champion."
The dedication highlighted the historical connection between Walsh's current fight and the legendary bout between his grandfather, Muhammad Ali, and George Foreman in Africa in 1974.
Walsh recalled growing up watching footage of that iconic fight.
"That was repeated for the whole family while growing up,"he said, referencing the documentary "When We Were Kings" which features his grandfather.
This win marked a significant comeback for Walsh after his previous defeat in February 2025 against Juan Carlos Guerra Jr. at Madison Square Garden in New York. Reflecting on that loss, Walsh explained:
"I felt like I couldn't pull the trigger with my left hand. I feel like I did enough, but it's no excuse. It's my fault."
Walsh's victory over Sowah not only improved his professional record but also served as a personal vindication after his recent setback. The fight and its location carried deep significance, connecting Walsh's own boxing journey with his family's storied legacy in the sport.
