Jarrell Miller has broken his silence after pulling out of his heavyweight clash with Fabio Wardley. The American boxer was set to face Wardley on June 7 at Portman Road in Ipswich, but withdrew late last month.
Miller's team initially cited a shoulder injury as the reason for his withdrawal. The fight was quickly rescheduled with undefeated Australian boxer Justis Huni stepping in as Wardley's new opponent on short notice.
Miller has now addressed the situation on social media. In an Instagram post, he clarified several points about his current status:
"Dimitry Salita is no longer my promoter. I currently have no promoter. I'm dealing with a slight set back, but I'll be fine in a week. Only Spencer Brown, my manager, can speak on my behalf. I'll have more updates soon."
Miller's withdrawal has raised eyebrows in the boxing world. Anthony Joshua, who was scheduled to fight Miller in 2019 before the bout fell through due to Miller's failed drug tests, has claimed he knows the real reason behind the American's latest pullout.
The fight with Wardley would have been a significant test for Miller. He's coming off a final round stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois in December 2023 and a majority decision draw against Andy Ruiz in August 2023.
Wardley has established himself as a key figure in the British heavyweight scene. He fought to a draw in a 12-round war with Frazer Clarke in March 2024, then won the rematch by first-round knockout in October.
