Anthony Joshua plans his comeback after a tough loss to Daniel Dubois last September. The 35-year-old heavyweight got knocked down in the first round and stopped in the fifth, marking a setback in his career.
Joshua's fought 32 times as a pro, with recent wins over Robert Helenius, Francis Ngannou, and Otto Wallin. He's also had some challenging nights, including a tough fight with Andy Ruiz Jr and two close 12-round battles against Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.
Right now, Joshua's dealing with an elbow injury. He's got surgery scheduled this month and will likely return to the ring later in the year.
In a recent interview with BoxNation, Joshua talked about potential opponents for his comeback. He mentioned a few names, including the currently retired Tyson Fury.
"Potential fight with Fury, hopefully that happens. I think the industry should not be left without it. Those interested should be able to witness it."
Other fighters on Joshua's list include Martin Bakole, Agit Kabayel, and Deontay Wilder, who's coming back in June after a string of losses.
Meanwhile, Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois are set for an undisputed showdown in July. When asked about his chances of getting that fight, Joshua surprised everyone with his response.
"Do you want me to be completely honest with you, Parker deserves it more than me right now?"
Joshua was referring to Joseph Parker, who's the mandatory challenger for the WBO belt and who Joshua beat back in 2018.
As Joshua recovers from his injury and plans his return, the heavyweight division continues to evolve. The former champion will need to pick his opponents carefully as he works his way back to the top of the division.
