Their first fight happened last August. Usyk won by stopping Dubois in the 9th round. But there was some drama. Dubois knocked Usyk down with a punch that the referee called a low blow. Some people think it was actually a fair body shot.
A lot has changed since that fight. Usyk beat Tyson Fury to become the undisputed champion. He then gave up his IBF belt to honor this rematch with Dubois. Dubois didn't waste any time. He grabbed that vacant IBF belt by beating Fillip Hrgovic. Then he defended it against Anthony Joshua with a big win.
Carl Froch, the former super-middleweight champion, shared his thoughts on the rematch. He told his YouTube channel Froch On Fighting:
"This is a good fight. Dubois had him down with that low blow stroke body shot. He hurt him, he put him over. If it was in the gonads, it was painful, it was a heavy shot, but the bottom line is Dubois showed he can punch hard and hurt Usyk, Usyk climbed off the floor and done him with a jab."
Froch pointed out how Usyk finished the job:
"A big stiff straight lead right hand, jab stroke power shot a couple of rounds later. Bottom line, Usyk got the job done like he always does. Dubois has grown since then, couple of good wins, battered AJ, he's IBF champ. Usyk's getting older, Dubois is what 26, 27 years old? It's an interesting fight."
Dubois, who's 26 or 27, looks to be in his prime. He's coming off a big win against Joshua back in September. Usyk last fought in December and has said before that he thinks Joshua is a better boxer than Dubois.
The fight shapes up to be an exciting one. Dubois showed he can hurt Usyk, but Usyk proved he can take a punch and come back strong. With both fighters having improved since their last meeting, fans can expect fireworks at Wembley this July.
