The rematch, set for July 19, 2025, at Wembley Stadium, follows their controversial first fight from nearly two years ago. Usyk won that bout by a ninth-round stoppage, but the fight wasn't without drama. In the fifth round, Dubois appeared to drop Usyk with a body shot. The referee ruled it a low blow, giving Usyk five minutes to recover. Dubois still insists it was a legal shot.
The controversy from their first encounter has kept tensions high between the two fighters. Dubois even entered the ring after Usyk's victory over Tyson Fury in December, which Usyk called disrespectful.
At the promotional event, Queensberry Promotions shared a video of the face-off incident on Twitter. The push by Dubois showed how much bad blood still exists between the two heavyweights.
Usyk, ever the professional, kept his cool during the event. He said:
"I'm grateful to God for the opportunity to once again fight for the undisputed championship. Thank you, Daniel, for taking care of my IBF belt – now I want it back."
Dubois, on the other hand, didn't hold back his feelings about the rematch:
"This is the fight I wanted and demanded and now I get my chance for revenge against Oleksandr Usyk. I should have won the first fight and was denied by the judgement of the referee, so I will make no mistake this time around in front of my people at the national stadium in my home city. I am a superior and more dangerous fighter now and Usyk will find this out for himself on July 19. I would like to thank my promoter Frank for making this happen for me and I intend to repay him by becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world."
The press conference on Tuesday will likely bring more fireworks between the two fighters. Fans can watch the fight worldwide on DAZN.
For those wanting to attend the fight in person, pre-registration for tickets is now open. The bout is part of Riyadh Season and promises to be one of the biggest boxing events of the year.
