George Groves Reveals Shocking Take on Eubank Jr vs Benn Matchup: "It's A Massive Error"

Benn showed up at 156.4lbs, way under the 160lbs middleweight limit. Eubank Jr., on the other hand, came in at 160.05lbs, just over the limit. That tiny bit over is costing Eubank Jr. a whopping $500,000 fine.

George Groves, who beat Eubank Jr. back in 2018, had some strong words about the situation. On his George Groves Boxing Club channel, he didn't hold back.

"You're just telling everyone that you've done no cut to make this weight and you're not big enough. You're not big enough. You envision that Eubank has cut a load of weight, so he's gonna be giving away at least a stone in natural weight. That's a lot. That's so much weight. At middleweight, to give away a stone… Essentially, if both guys are on form, the smaller guy cannot win."

Groves was talking about Benn there, suggesting he's just too small for this fight. But he didn't let Eubank Jr. off the hook either.

"Here's the spanner in the works. Eubank fails the weight and he fails it by the most pathetic of margins ... He's made a massive, massive error ... Half a million dollars? ... He's got to be spitting feathers ... It's unprofessional to fail the weight, even if it is by the thinnest of margins."

After the initial weigh-in, they had another check due to a rehydration clause. Benn came in at 165lbs, while Eubank Jr. hit 169.4lbs, both under the 170lbs limit.

Despite all this drama, the fight's still on. If you want to watch it, you can find all the viewing details online.

This weight issue has added a whole new layer to an already intense matchup. Will Benn's smaller size be a problem? Will Eubank Jr.'s weight struggles affect his performance? We'll have to wait and see when they finally face off in the ring.
