Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are getting ready for a big fight this Saturday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It's shaping up to be the biggest bout of their careers so far.
Derek Chisora, who's fought 49 times and has just one more fight left in him, shared some inside info about Eubank Jr's sparring sessions. Chisora got the scoop from someone who sparred with Eubank Jr.
"I had a guy sparring Chris, yeah, and they [told me] Chris is not doing so much work, but when he hits you with his combinations, he doesn't throw one shot or three shots, he throws seven shots, and they all land."
Chisora said this during an interview with talkSPORT Boxing. He didn't want to predict a winner but admitted he's rooting for Benn.
Eubank Jr comes into the fight as the naturally bigger man. He's fought for a world title before and has shared the ring with some top fighters like James DeGale, George Groves, and Billy Joe Saunders.
Benn, the younger and more aggressive fighter, has been making noise at lower weights. He stopped Chris van Heerden and Chris Algieri at 147 pounds before moving up to 154 and going the distance twice.
There's been some back-and-forth about sparring. Benn's dad, Nigel, claimed his son was running through sparring partners and even made William Scull quit. Scull's team denied this.
The fight will be at a catchweight, but the exact weight hasn't been specified. There's also a rehydration clause that stops Eubank from putting on more than 10lbs between the weigh-in and the morning of the fight.
Chisora, who's faced tough opponents like Dillian Whyte twice and Tyson Fury three times, summed it up: "It's gonna be a hard fight for both fighters."
