Scull won the vacant IBF super-middleweight title in October. He beat Vladimir Shishkin by unanimous decision. This victory pushed his record to 23 wins and no losses.
Recently, Scull sparred with Conor Benn in Mallorca. Benn's getting ready to face Chris Eubank Jr on April 26. Scull talked about his experience with Benn in an interview with Pro Boxing Fans.
"Yeah I was very impressed, he's a very explosive and fast fighter and I think he's very ready and it's going to be a good fight for him."
Benn and Eubank Jr will fight at 160lbs. This means Benn's moving up in weight. Scull shared his thoughts on this challenge:
"Going higher in weight is not impossible, it's difficult to do it in a big way, get used to this weight and then go and fight fighters that are more than settled at this weight. In life you need to try new things, if you don't try you will never find out."
The Benn-Eubank Jr fight has an interesting detail. There's a rehydration clause that limits Eubank to gaining only 10lbs by fight morning. This could affect the naturally bigger Eubank Jr.
Canelo's fight with Scull promises to be a big event. If Canelo wins, he'll regain his status as the undisputed champion in the super-middleweight division. For Scull, it's a chance to defend his IBF title and prove himself against one of boxing's biggest stars.
