Crawford recently became the undisputed welterweight champion and moved up a weight class. Ennis, known as 'Boots', has been making waves in the 147-pound division. He claimed world honors and added the WBA title to his IBF belt. In April 2023, Ennis won by sixth-round retirement against Eimantas Stanionis, bouncing back from a less impressive showing against Karen Chukhadzhian in November.
Porter shared his thoughts on a potential Crawford-Ennis matchup on his podcast, The Porter Way. He couldn't pick a winner but believes the fight will be one for the history books.
"This fight will go down in history as one of the classic fights. It'll be comparable to Martin Hagler vs Thomas Hearns, and Ray Leonard fights. It's A plus vs A."
Porter described both fighters as true alpha males in the ring. He admitted Crawford's dominance, saying, "I was an alpha male until I got in the ring with that dude."
When it comes to power, Porter couldn't decide who hits harder. He recalled a sparring session with Ennis:
"Ennis hit me with a right hand in sparring, and I was like wow, that was real."
While fans are eager to see this matchup, it's unlikely to happen soon. Crawford is getting ready to step up to 168 pounds to fight Canelo Alvarez later this year.
