Tim Bradley, a former two-weight world champion, recently shared his thoughts on how a hypothetical fight between Davis and a prime Mayweather at lightweight would go. Bradley predicted Mayweather would come out on top.
In an interview with ESNews, Bradley explained his reasoning:
"Gervonta Davis is nothing without Mayweather. Tank needs Mayweather. Mayweather made Tank. Without Mayweather, Davis wouldn't be where he's at today."
Bradley acknowledged Davis's power and his role in the fights, but he believes Mayweather's influence was crucial to Davis's success.
Mayweather retired with a perfect 50-0 record and held world titles in five divisions from super-featherweight to super-welterweight. Davis, nicknamed 'Tank', has a 30-0-1 record and has held gold at 130lbs, 135lbs, and 140lbs.
Davis, the current WBA lightweight champion, is expected to face Lamont Roach in a rematch this summer. Their previous fight in March ended in a controversial draw, with Davis taking a knee but no knockdown being scored.
