Evander Holyfield thinks Mike Tyson would beat George Foreman if they fought in their prime. The former heavyweight champ, who faced both fighters, shared his prediction recently.
Holyfield knows a thing or two about both men. He beat Foreman by unanimous decision in April 1991, keeping his undisputed world heavyweight titles. Then in November 1996, he stopped Tyson in the 11th round to win the WBA heavyweight belt. Seven months later, he kept the title in their infamous rematch when Tyson got disqualified for biting Holyfield's ear.
Tyson, known as "Iron Mike," was a force to be reckoned with in his heyday. He became the undisputed heavyweight champ and knocked out tough guys like Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks.
Foreman, nicknamed "Big George," had two distinct phases in his career. In the early '70s, he became world champ by knocking out Joe Frazier in just two rounds. He made a comeback in the '90s after a 10-year break from the ring.
There was talk about Tyson and Foreman fighting in the early '90s. Tyson was at the top of his game as the undisputed champ, while Foreman was in the second act of his career. But the fight never happened.
When asked by Mail Sport who'd win between prime Tyson and prime Foreman, Holyfield kept it simple:
"Mike Tyson."
Holyfield didn't stop there. He reckons Tyson would also beat today's stars like Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Deontay Wilder. He even thinks Tyson would come out on top against legends Joe Frazier and the Klitschko brothers.
But when it comes to Tyson vs current unified heavyweight champ Oleksandr Usyk, Holyfield wasn't so sure. He'll leave that one for us to debate.
