Jarrell Miller, the self-proclaimed 'most feared heavyweight', wants to face Deontay Wilder in a big American heavyweight clash. Miller's call-out comes as both fighters get ready for their upcoming bouts.
'Big Baby' Miller has had a bumpy road in boxing. He failed drug tests before a fight with Anthony Joshua in 2019 and got suspended. But he's fought his way back to the top level. Last year, he drew with Andy Ruiz Jr in a fight that raised eyebrows. More recently, Daniel Dubois stopped him in the last seconds of their match in 2023.
Now, Miller's getting ready to fight Fabio Wardley for the WBA interim heavyweight title. The fight's set for Saturday, June 7, at Ipswich Town's home stadium.
In a chat with BoxNation, Miller talked about facing Wilder after their next fights:
"I heard about [Wilder's comeback] a few months ago. If we get past our fights maybe me and him could do a banger. A blockbuster … I mean, I'm about the paycheque, I still want to smash him, cause people want to see that fight."
Wilder, the former WBC world champ, needs a win badly. He's been away from the ring for almost a year. His last two fights didn't go well. Joseph Parker beat him on points, and then Zhile Zhang stopped him in five rounds last June.
The once-feared knockout artist will try to get back on track in June. He's set to face Tyrrell Herndon in Wichita, Kansas.
There's more than just boxing between Miller and Wilder. They've got beef over a woman, and Miller wants to settle it in the ring.
If both guys win their next fights, we might see a big American heavyweight showdown. Miller's sure he can "smash" Wilder, but first, they've got to get through their upcoming bouts.
Miller's fight with Fabio Wardley is a big step towards world title contention. A win there could set him up for the Wilder clash he's after.
