Joe Frazier and George Foreman faced off in a major heavyweight bout in 1973. The fight ended with Foreman knocking Frazier down six times in just two rounds to claim the world heavyweight championship.
The match took place at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. Frazier entered the ring as the unbeaten WBC and WBA world heavyweight champion. He had notable victories over Muhammad Ali and Jerry Quarry under his belt and was the heavy favorite to win.
However, Foreman had other plans. The fight lasted only two rounds, but those rounds were packed with action. Foreman's power proved too much for Frazier, who hit the canvas a total of six times before the referee called an end to the bout.
After the fight, when asked if Foreman had switched his fighting style, Frazier gave a memorable response:
"Well no he didn't switch styles you know what I mean, he just like come out and worked you know what I mean, big strong fella. And I know one thing, you asked me how well that he fights, I don't know, but I can tell you one thing, he punched good!"
The victory marked Foreman's first heavyweight title win. He went on to defend the title twice before losing it to Muhammad Ali in the famous "Rumble In The Jungle" in 1974.
Foreman's career didn't end there. He made a comeback and became the oldest world heavyweight champion in boxing history when he defeated Michael Moorer for the WBA and IBF titles.
