Jake and Logan Paul's recent promotional stunt in Times Square fell flat. The brothers tried to drum up interest for their new MAX reality series "Paul American," but barely anyone showed up.
The event turned into a major embarrassment for the social media stars. Videos of the ghostly gathering spread online, leading to widespread mockery. The official "Paul American on MAX" TikTok account even deleted footage of the failed promotion.
Dillon Danis, a former UFC fighter with a long-standing feud against the Pauls, couldn't resist taking a jab. He commented on the lackluster turnout, saying, "The silence was loud."
The brothers boast over 50 million Instagram followers combined. Jake recently scored a controversial win over Mike Tyson in November, while Logan has become a fixture in WWE. Despite their online popularity, the Times Square flop suggests their star power might not translate to the real world as easily as they thought.
Critics haven't been kind to "Paul American" either. Variety wrote that the brothers "lack some fundamental charm," adding that watching the show "feels like consuming empty calories." The Atlantic noted that Jake and Logan get upstaged by their own girlfriends, who "steal the limelight."
Logan's fiancée, Nina Agdal, features prominently in the series. Her involvement in the show stems partly from an ongoing feud between the Pauls and Dillon Danis. Danis had been trolling Agdal online, which led to a boxing match where Logan defeated him.
The Times Square failure and harsh reviews don't bode well for "Paul American." Many people might not bother tuning in to watch the reality series, despite the brothers' massive social media following.
