Oleksandr Usyk announced the start of the professional career of one of the most successful Ukrainian boxers of recent years.
The unified world champion in heavyweight, in the role of promoter, presented an exclusive event for boxing fans. The long-awaited debut of Olympic champion Oleksandr Khizhniak in the professional ring will take place at the show organized by his company Usyk 17 Promotions.
“Dear friends, the exclusive is here. The debut of our incredible Cossack Oleksandr Khizhniak in professional boxing. The title defense of Daniil Lapin, our beloved 'lemonadick'. Come, watch the incredible boxing. We're waiting for you.
Of course, I'll be there. I'm talking about all this here—and I'm not going to be there? Of course, I'll be there as a promoter,” Usyk stated.
Khizhniak has an outstanding amateur track record. He became the champion of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, making his transition to professionals one of the most anticipated events in Ukrainian boxing.
The boxing evening titled Rising Stars is scheduled for March 21. The venue selected is Equides Club in the village of Lesnyky near Kyiv. The broadcast will be provided by the channel "Suspilne Sport" and the streaming service DAZN.
