Mike Tyson has picked Joe Louis as his favorite heavyweight boxer of all time. The former champion shared his opinion in a recent interview, surprising many who know him as a long-time fan of Muhammad Ali.

Tyson, who dominated the heavyweight division in the 1980s and 1990s, became the youngest world heavyweight champion in history. He scored notable wins over fighters like Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks, and Trevor Berbick.

In an interview with Ringside Videos, Tyson explained his choice:

"Joe Louis. He was an incredible fighter and much smarter than anybody. I think Ali was a better fighter, I think he would have beat Joe Louis but I just think Joe Louis was the best."

Tyson went on to praise Louis's ring skills:

"He was so pragmatic and so delivering. Just to see him have those guys turning, he would just turn them and just does it like he was breathing. He was a master."

Joe Louis, known as 'The Brown Bomber', became champion in 1937 and defended his title 25 times in a row before his initial retirement in 1949. His impact extended beyond the ring, making him one of the most influential boxers ever.

Tyson isn't alone in his high regard for Louis. George Foreman, another heavyweight great, also views Louis as the greatest of all time.

While Tyson acknowledges Ali as potentially a better fighter, he still considers Louis the best due to his pragmatism, skill, and mastery in the ring.

Both Tyson and Ali ruled the heavyweight division during different eras, each leaving their mark on boxing history. Tyson's choice of Louis over Ali shows the enduring legacy of 'The Brown Bomber' and the respect he commands among boxing's greats.
