Oleksandr Usyk will face a tough decision for his next opponent. The Ukrainian heavyweight champion must choose between Joseph Parker and Daniel Dubois for his upcoming title defense.
Usyk's career has been nothing short of spectacular. He's won Olympic gold, become undisputed champion in two weight classes, and beaten some of the biggest names in boxing. His courage and relentless attitude have led him to victories over Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, each twice. He's even forced Fury into a tentative retirement.
The WBO has ordered Usyk to defend his title against Parker, their mandatory challenger. Parker's on a roll, winning his last six fights. He's knocked out three opponents and beaten some tough competition like Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang. His last loss came against Joe Joyce back in September 2022.
"I'm ready for Usyk," Parker said in a recent interview. "I've been working hard and I think I've earned my shot at the title."
On the other hand, Dubois is younger and hungry for a rematch after his controversial loss to Usyk. He's been on a tear lately, knocking out Jarell Miller, Filip Hgrovic, and even Anthony Joshua. Many fans think Dubois went toe-to-toe with Usyk in their first fight and deserves another shot.
"I know I can beat Usyk," Dubois stated. "I just need another chance to prove it."
Usyk's team has a tough choice to make. Do they go with the WBO's mandatory challenger in Parker, or give Dubois the rematch he's been asking for? Both fighters have strong cases for getting the shot.
No matter who Usyk picks, boxing fans will get a treat. The champ has proven he's willing to take on all comers, and either Parker or Dubois will give him a real challenge. We'll have to wait and see who gets the nod, but one thing's for sure - the heavyweight division is as exciting as ever.
