Edgar Berlanga puts Gervonta Davis at the bottom of his boxer rankings. The Puerto Rican fighter made his controversial picks after Davis' recent fight with Lamont Roach Jr.
On March 1, Davis and Roach Jr. battled to a majority draw. Davis kept his WBA lightweight title, but many think he should've lost it. The referee didn't finish counting when Davis seemed to have something in his eye.
Berlanga, fresh off a great win himself, shared his rankings on DAZN Boxing. He put Davis in the "D" level, among the worst fighters. That's the same level as KSI, a YouTuber turned boxer. Surprisingly, Berlanga ranked Jake Paul, another YouTuber boxer, in the "S" level - the best of the best.
The Puerto Rican boxer, known as "The Chosen One," just scored a third-round knockout against Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz. It was a big win over a fellow countryman. Now, he's looking at potential fights with Caleb Plant, Jermall Charlo, or Jaime Munguia.
Berlanga recently fought Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, losing for the first time in his career. But he says the experience changed him for the better.
"I feel like I went from high school to college overnight," Berlanga said. "We were talking nonsense and making fun of each other. It was like two brothers fighting."
He added that it was the first time he had fun in the ring during his career. The fight gave him a new level of confidence and radically changed him as a boxer.
While Berlanga seems to be on the rise, Davis faces questions after his draw with Roach Jr. The controversy around the fight and now Berlanga's low ranking of "Tank" Davis add more fuel to the ongoing debates in the boxing world.
