Shakur Stevenson Eyes New Division, Calls Out Champ: "Let's Run It"

Stevenson's challenge comes after his recent title defense in February 2024. He stopped Josh Padley in the ninth round, a late replacement for Floyd Schofield who got sick before the fight. The bout took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the undercard of the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol rematch.

While Stevenson won almost every round, some fans felt he should've looked more impressive. The criticism didn't sit well with the champion, who defended his performance on social media.

Now, Stevenson's looking ahead. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out Lopez:

"How bout [you] fight me next Teo? Let's line it up, we both do business with the same people. I'll go 140 for this on God … Run it n***a, let's make it happen"

Lopez responded, telling Stevenson to send an offer.

A fight with Lopez would give Stevenson a shot at becoming a four-weight world champion. He's already won titles at featherweight, super featherweight, and lightweight.

But Lopez has other plans for now. He'll defend his WBO super-lightweight championship against Arnold Barboza Jr in May 2024. The fight's set for Times Square, New York, on a stacked card that also features Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero and Devin Haney vs. Jose Ramirez.

Stevenson will have to wait and see how that plays out before any potential showdown with Lopez can happen.
