The two fighters will meet in the ring on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This bout has been a long time coming. It was originally set for October 2022 but got called off when Benn failed a drugs test. Benn has maintained his innocence, suggesting that eating too many eggs might have caused the positive result.
Eubank Jr used this explanation as ammunition for his stunt at the press conference. He smashed an egg in Benn's face during their face-off, mocking Benn's excuse for the failed test.
Former unified world champion Carl Froch shared his thoughts on the incident. On his YouTube channel "Froch On Fighting," he said:
"I'd have been fuming."
Froch, known as "The Cobra," drew from his own experiences with heated rivalries. He famously knocked out George Groves at Wembley Stadium after a intense build-up to their fight.
Froch offered some advice to Benn:
"Be calmer. Boxing is all about discipline. Avoid loading up and making mistakes. Don't advertise shots."
He added, "The first time with Groves I was fuming."
