Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol are set to square off again this Saturday for the undisputed light heavyweight title. Carl Froch, the former super middleweight champion, has shared his thoughts on how the rematch might unfold.
The two fighters first met in October, with Beterbiev earning a narrow majority decision after 12 rounds. Bivol started strong in the early rounds, showing off his slick boxing skills and tight defense. But Beterbiev rallied in the second half, landing more heavy shots to sway the judges.
Before facing Bivol, Beterbiev boasted an impressive 21-0 record with all wins coming by knockout. He had notable victories over Anthony Yarde, Callum Smith, and Callum Johnson. Bivol, on the other hand, made waves in 2022 when he defeated Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
Froch shared his analysis on his show "Froch on Fighting." He believes Bivol needs to make some changes to come out on top in the rematch.
"Bivol needs to be busier, concentrate more and longer, be really strong defensively, and be cute defensively," Froch said. "Bivol can only win on points."
Despite these suggestions, Froch sees the fight as a toss-up. He said:
"It's a 50-50, pick em match. But I'm leaning towards Beterbiev as a slight favourite. He'll get closer a little bit earlier, and his eye-catching shots will catch the judges' eye."
The undercard features another exciting matchup between British light heavyweights Joshua Buatsi and Callum Smith. The winner of this fight could be in line for a shot at the undisputed title.
With so much at stake, fight fans are in for a treat this Saturday. Will Beterbiev confirm his supremacy, or will Bivol turn the tables? We'll find out soon enough.
