Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Terence Crawford are gearing up for a big fight in Las Vegas this September. The bout will put Canelo's unified super middleweight titles on the line.
Mexican boxing icon Julio Cesar Chavez thinks Canelo will come out on top. In an interview with ESNEWS, Chavez said:
"Canelo will knock him out in six or seven rounds. Crawford is good fighter but there's weight classes."
The fight at 168 pounds will be a huge jump for Crawford. The Omaha, Nebraska native has won world titles in four weight divisions. His most recent achievement came last August when he grabbed the WBA super-welterweight title from Israil Madrimov.
Canelo, on the other hand, has been dominating the super middleweight division. In 2021, he became the first undisputed champion of the 'four belt era' at this weight. He's racked up impressive wins against Gennady Golovkin, Jermell Charlo, and Jaime Munguia. His only recent setback was a loss to Dmitry Bivol in 2022.
Before the Crawford showdown, Canelo has some business to take care of. He'll face William Scull for the IBF super middleweight title on May 3 in Riyadh. Canelo lost this belt last year when he didn't fight Scull as required.
The Mexican star's last fight was a unanimous decision win over Edgar Berlanga Jr in September 2023.
For Crawford, this fight will be the biggest test of his career. He'll try to become a two-time undisputed champion, a feat that would cement his place in boxing history.
The clash between these two boxing greats is shaping up to be one of the most exciting fights of the year. Fans will be eager to see if Crawford can overcome the weight difference and challenge Canelo, or if the Mexican champion will prove too strong at his natural weight.
