Oleksandr Usyk has set his sights on the winner of the upcoming Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker fight. The Ukrainian boxer confirmed he'll face whoever comes out on top in their February 22 showdown.
Usyk's had a stellar run recently. Last May, he became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over 20 years by beating Tyson Fury on points. He followed that up with another win over Fury in December, though he dropped the IBF belt after that fight.
Now, Usyk's looking ahead to his next challenge. He told talkSPORT Boxing:
"52 per cent for Daniel and 48 per cent for Parker that is what my team have predicted."
Both Dubois and Parker have been making waves in the heavyweight division. Parker, a former WBO champ, has scored big wins over Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder. Dubois has been on a tear, stopping Jarrell Miller, Fillip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua. He also picked up the vacant IBF strap along the way.
There's some history between Usyk and Dubois. They fought in 2023, with Usyk winning in the 9th round. But that fight had its share of controversy. Dubois knocked Usyk down, but it was ruled a low blow. Usyk bounced back to win, leaving Dubois eager for a rematch to set things straight.
Usyk's made it clear he's not slowing down. He told reporters:
"We wait for a fight on February 22 between Daniel and Joseph. Whoever wins this fight between Daniel and Joseph, I have already made the fight."
The Ukrainian champ's got his eye on becoming a two-time heavyweight champion. He's promised to keep fighting this year, and he's pumped to take on whoever comes out on top between Dubois and Parker.
With Usyk ready to go and two hungry contenders squaring off, heavyweight boxing fans have got a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
