David Benavidez thinks Terence Crawford has a good shot at beating Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in their upcoming big fight. The 28-year-old from Phoenix, known as 'The Monster', rates Crawford's chances as 7 out of 10.
Benavidez has been linked to a potential showdown with Canelo since 2023. He was the WBC mandatory challenger two years ago but moved up to light heavyweight after getting frustrated with deal negotiations.
Now, Canelo looks set to face 'Bud' Crawford later this year. It'll be the biggest challenge of Crawford's career, even though he's already a four-weight world champion and has been undisputed at super lightweight and welterweight.
Crawford, 37, won the WBA light middleweight title last August against Israil Madrimov. His performance wasn't his best, but he got the job done.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Benavidez shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight:
"It's a good fight for both of them, I think it's more important for Crawford than anybody. I think if anybody can beat Canelo I think Crawford could."
Benavidez rates Crawford's chances highly, giving him a 7 out of 10 shot at beating the unified super middleweight champion. He explained:
"I think I'd give him like a 7 out of 10. Crawford is good and I think that it's been known he's gonna fight Canelo for a long, long time and Crawford likes to pick up the weight so I'm sure he's been working on the weights for a long, long time."
Benavidez thinks Crawford's been preparing for this fight for a while, working on building his strength to match Canelo. The Mexican champ will have his hands full with Crawford's skills, but it's a fight that could make history for both men.
