Joshua beat Ngannou in March 2024. It was a quick fight, ending in the second round when Joshua knocked Ngannou out. Joshua dropped Ngannou several times before the final knockout.
Before this fight, Joshua had some ups and downs. He lost his heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk twice. But he bounced back, winning against Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius. His last fight before Ngannou was a strong win over Otto Wallin, who quit in the fifth round.
Ngannou came to boxing from MMA. His first big boxing match was against Tyson Fury in October 2023. He surprised everyone by knocking Fury down in the third round. Ngannou lost that fight, but it was close.
After losing to Joshua, Ngannou shared his thoughts:
"A rematch with Joshua? I felt very off and not comfortable in that fight. It's something that could happen, but what I do know for sure is I want the rematch with Fury."
Ngannou thinks something unfair happened. He says he spent almost four hours in the locker room before the fight, which he finds unusual. Because of this, he's not keen on fighting Joshua again under similar conditions.
Instead of Joshua, Ngannou wants to fight Tyson Fury again. There's also talk about him possibly fighting Deontay Wilder in the future.
