Usyk has made a habit of beating British boxers. He's taken down six of them, including Joshua and Fury. These wins have made him the unified and undisputed heavyweight champion. Many now see him as the best heavyweight of his time.
Usyk just beat Fury again this weekend in Riyadh. The judges all agreed Usyk won on points. This victory comes after he won and defended the unified heavyweight titles against Joshua in 2021 and 2022. He then became the undisputed champion by beating Fury earlier this year.
Usyk has spent 24 rounds in the ring with both Joshua and Fury. When asked about a potential fight between the two British heavyweights, he had a clear opinion. In an interview with Boxing King Media, Usyk said:
"Maybe Anthony Joshua. Maybe [on] points."
A fight between Fury and Joshua used to be the biggest match in boxing. It's still a fight fans want to see, even though both have lost recently. Joshua lost his last fight against Daniel Dubois for the IBF Heavyweight Championship. Fury got hurt badly in the ninth round of his first fight with Usyk before losing.
Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, says AJ has two important fights ahead: one with Fury and a rematch with Dubois. Dubois will defend his IBF belt against Joseph Parker on February 22. After that, he'll likely face a mandatory challenger or try to get a rematch with Usyk, who stopped him in 2023.
The heavyweight division looks different now. Usyk sits at the top, while Fury and Joshua are no longer holding titles. But a fight between the two Brits would still be a big deal, and now we know who Usyk thinks will win.
